How do you measure an LTL Freight shipment?
This article explains how to properly and accurately measure a freight shipment.
Measure at the widest points for each dimension and always round up. You must include the pallet in your measurements!
Please note that it is not recommended to have the shipment hang over the edge of the pallet.
Weight: Enter the total weight of the shipment. The weight entered should include the weight of the pallet. A standard 48×40 wood pallet weighs approximately 40 lbs on average.
For example, if a shipment contains five 10 lb boxes, the total weight of the shipment would be approx. 90lbs: (5 boxes x10 lbs) + 40 lbs = 90 lbs
